Bill Lescher has taken on the monumental task of transitioning the Navy into a new era, establishing the 'Get Real, Get Better' structure wherein leaders and servicemen are tasked with transparently evaluating their performance. In order to ensure accountability and promote success, Lescher has advocated for holding individuals responsible for any successes or failures.
Tragedies such as the fuel release at Red Hill Bulk Fuel Storage Facility in Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam in April 2022 and the fire that destroyed USS Bonhomme Richard in San Diego have put his convictions to the test. Despite these hardships, Lescher remains steadfast in his commitment to world-class performance.
Officially deemed the longest serving current Naval Academy Graduate, Admiral Lescher grandly owns the title of 'The Old Goat', representing strong character, work ethic, and leadership for all those who serve under him.
